Sacrosanct Somnambulance

"So that's what I'm getting for Christmas!" The five-year old brunet huffed in pride flaunting the magazine in his best friend's face.

"..." Little Red kept silent, but his eyes gave away everything. He was envious. He had wanted that toy for months. But he didn't want his mom- who was struggling to pay the bills after his dad left- to me strained further, so he kept shut.

"Hah! You're totally jelly aren't you!" Green snorted.

"I'm not jelly. I'm a boy." Red answered, clueless.

Green rolled his eyes. "Jelly means jealous, stupid! Jeez, keep with the times, will ya?"

"I'm going home." Red said, getting up and heading for home.

"Whoa- wait, where are you going?" Green ran behind the black-haired boy trying not to trip as he ran down the hill.

"It's late, Green. We shouldn't stay out that long."

"Hey, are you cross?" Green asked, reaching out for Red's hand.

Red slapped it away. "No." Ofcourse he was.

"C'mon! I was just kidding." Green rubbed the back of his head.

"I'm not angry. I swear to Arceus. I just don't want to worry mom, okay? I'll see you tomorrow." Red decided to let it go, flashing a slight, yet rare smile.

Green's face immediately lit up in both happiness and relief, and he walked his neighbor back to his house and waved goodbye.

Green went back home, and saw Daisy in the kitchen. He tugged at her apron.

"Hey Daisy. Remember when you promised you'd get me that toy?" He asked.

"Yeah, why? Did you want something else?" Daisy ruffled his hair, smiling.

"Can you buy two of those?" Green looked up at her.

"Now listen here Green Oak, you have no need for two-"

"It's just that, Red wanted one too... I just thought I'd surprise him... you know..." Green mumbled, blushing.

Daisy blinked in surprise, and then gave her little brother a sweet smile.

"P-plus... it'll get really annoying if he just keeps looking at my toy you know...y-yeah! That's what I meant. I-It's not like I wanted to give him something...cause I don't!" Green said defensively.

"Uh-huh, suuuuure tough guy." Daisy said, laughing.

"I'll see what I can do, okay?" She winked at her brother.

Green happily went up to his room, shouting a very grateful "Thanks!" as he went up the stairs.

Daisy stood there smiling, wondering just when her baby brother had matured so fast.
